I had a buddy in college named Joel, who was from a tiny town in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula called Chassell. To put “tiny town” in perspective, he once told me that his graduating class from high school was 25 people. Joel was one of the biggest music fans I knew, and we really bonded over the course of our college years, not just through music, but through our general outlooks on life. Joel’s favorite artist of all-time was Neil Young, and he was the first person to really take me on a deep dive of Neil’s catalog. Though there were a lot of songs I thoroughly enjoyed, the title track from Harvest Moon was always one that stood out to me. It’s one of those songs that just seems to truly encapsulate the title and always hits me deep within, regardless of how many times I’ve already heard it.
