Back in August, my uncle accompanied me back to California after I took a road trip out to Michigan. The last night he was here we ended up having dinner with some friends of mine at a restaurant in Pasadena. While sitting outside and enjoying a nice summer sunset and conversation, my ear couldn’t help but drift to the music I heard playing over the PA system. At the same time, my buddy Carlos and I gave each other a look of “what a great tune, but I can’t remember who it is.” With the aid of technology, we were quickly reminded that it was Roy Ayers.
