My name is an unusual one. The only person I ever knew that had the same name as me was my dad. Because it’s an uncommon name but also sounds like a few more familiar names, it’s rare that anyone gets it right the first time. Hell, sometimes they don’t even get it right the second or third time. This seems to be especially true at places where you have to give a name for an order or a table, like coffee shops or restaurants. At a certain point, I decided to just say my name was Joe when I found myself in these situations. Of course, the first time I decided to do this I heard the reply, “Joel?” Maybe it’s me. Anyway, the last time I used the Joe moniker, I found myself thinking about this song by Big Pun.
