Double A-side Single #211

I celebrated my 40th birthday towards the end of last year. I usually like to keep it pretty low key, but some friends and relatives of mine ended up organizing a small, casino-themed surprise party for me, which was very thoughtful and appreciated. One of the gifts I received was a stack of about four or five records, mostly comprised of soul, jazz, and blues, from my buddy Rene. In amongst the stack was Curtis Mayfield’s debut solo record Curtis. Prior to acquiring this, the only record I really knew of his was Superfly. Not a bad one to know if you’re only going to know one.
