As a child, I don’t remember hearing a single song on the radio or television by the band the Velvet Underground. They just weren’t a band I ever heard anybody really talk about while I was growing up. I started to hear the name more when I was in college, but I still didn’t know anyone that listened to them with any regularity. When I started working at the local library towards the end of college, I finally heard a couple of albums of theirs after borrowing them from work. I liked them well enough, but it wasn’t until I heard their album Loaded that I really started to take notice.
