Yesterday I came across the first of a four-part video called The Art Of Drumming, featuring a conversation between Terry Bozzio and Steve Vai, both alums of Frank Zappa’s band, which is how each of these guys initially came to my attention many years ago. Watching this video made me reminisce about the start of my California journey in San Diego in 2005, thinking back to the time when my night manager Jack, the biggest Frank Zappa fan I’ve ever known, introduced me to the Steve Vai album Passion And Warfare.
