Continuing on in the biography I’m reading about Iggy Pop, I have now reached the point where The Stooges are in the midst of recording their second album, Fun House, but also beginning to spiral downward due to cocaine and heroin use. Sadly, this story is not an unfamiliar one in music history, and it got me thinking about the musicians I’ve seen just in my lifetime that ultimately succumbed to their addiction. One of the first that came to mind was Layne Staley.
