LaVern Baker is another one of those artists that I’ve known going as far back as I can remember but didn’t know I knew until much later in life. I was fortunate enough to work on a good number of her albums very early on in my career, and it was one of those things where I’d see a song title and think, “Wait, is that the song I’m thinking of?” The first song like that was “Jim Dandy.” The second was this golden oldie from 1954.
