I would be amiss if I did not start where it all started for me – in Michigan. In fact, this entire first week will likely be dedicated to songs and/or artists that have some connection to the state. With Motown probably being the most recognizable musical contribution of Michigan, it will certainly be well represented, though the state’s musical contributions go well beyond Berry Gordy’s Tamla/Motown offerings. But with this being said, there is no doubt that his labels’ influence was immeasurable, which is why we start there.
