Seeing the movie Batman was probably my first exposure to Prince. We had the “Partyman” single, and I used to play that record over and over again in our basement while jumping between two couches we had down there. At the time, I really had no idea who sang the song. Honestly, as long as I had good music playing while bouncing around, I probably didn’t care. Though I had heard more songs by Prince on the radio as I got older and enjoyed them, it wasn’t until about 12 years ago or so that I really dove into his catalog. Then, in 2017, I was fortunate enough to do some work on the Purple Rain reissue and really got to know this album inside and out.
