Double A-side Single #57

If a radio station in Detroit played Jane’s Addiction, there was only one of two songs you were going to hear, either “Jane Says” or “Been Caught Stealing.” Though I enjoyed both of those songs, I never really explored Jane’s Addiction further at the time. Cut to about 20 years after their first record came out, and I’m holding the master tapes in my hand. Until then, I had absolutely no idea that this thing actually came out in the late-’80s. I just always assumed they were a ’90s band because that’s when I really started hear them on the radio. Clearly, I was just behind the times. A lot of people say that Nirvana is the band that killed hair metal, but Jane’s Addiction might have been one of the ones to fire an early shot.
