Jazz seems to be a genre of music that you really don’t hear much about these days, at least I don’t. Just about all of the jazz artists I know or still listen to are people that have been around for many years. I fully admit that this could simply be a result of my own lack of effort in seeking out new jazz artists. One of the best things about having friends that love music, however, is that they can sometimes fill some of these gaps for you. About two or three years ago, I was chatting with a buddy of mine in Michigan and he asked me if I had ever heard of an album called Harmony Of Difference by Kamasi Washington. Both were unfamiliar to me at the time, but he was very adamant about me checking out the record. Once I got a chance to give it a listen, I completely understood why.
