Rocky IV was the first Rocky movie I ever saw, and it was one of my favorite movies to watch as a kid. We had a VHS tape of the movie recorded from HBO, and I used to watch it all the time. One of the most critical scenes in the film is when the character Apollo Creed fights Ivan Drago, the antagonist of the movie. Before their fight, however, there is an elaborate and extravagant introduction for Apollo, featuring a performance of the song “Living In America” by James Brown. Though I had seen James Brown in The Blues Brothers, his performance in Rocky IV was the one that really caught my attention and led me to seek out more of his work.
