My mom used to shop at Big Lots when I was a kid. I would usually poke around the toy and music sections while she went around and grabbed her stuff. One time, I came across a cheap Black Sabbath compilation CD called We Sold Our Souls For Rock ‘N’ Roll – Vol. II, which I decided to pick up. When I played the song “Children Of The Grave,” I thought the quality sounded pretty bad. For years I assumed that this was just the way the song sounded on every release. Many years later, however, I finally heard the version on the original release and got a real lesson in how different things can sound when in the right and wrong hands.
