Coming across the Sam Samudio album Sam, Hard And Heavy was another moment of happenstance and education. I got a request to work on the album about five or six years ago, but neither the artist nor the title rang a bell. When I got things rolling, I started to get into the record from the very first song. I looked up some information about it, saw a picture of the cover, and liked it even more. As I continued to read, I came to find out that I actually knew the artist. Sam Samudio was, in fact, Sam The Sham from Sam The Sham And The Pharaohs, performers of the song “Wooly Bully.”
