When I saw the Smashing Pumpkins on The Arising! tour in 1999, they had an opening band that I’ll never forget. Having never heard of the band before, I was not familiar with their songs, but they played a good set that really got the crowd energized for the headliner. In the subsequent year after the show, I heard my first song of theirs on the radio. Then I heard another one. And then another a couple of years after that. And before I knew it, this band had become one of the more popular and well-known rock acts of the 2000s. Their name? Queens Of The Stone Age.
