One cassette I remember my friend Adam having while we were in elementary school was Ugly Kid Joe’s America’s Least Wanted. I loved the cover because it kind of reminded me of the old Garbage Pail Kids cards I used to collect. It also didn’t hurt that the character was naughtily displaying the middle finger. When Adam played the tape and got to the song “Cat’s In The Cradle,” I recognized the tune, but it sounded off to me. That’s because the only version I was familiar with at the time was the original by Harry Chapin.
