This year’s Stanley Cup finals have been quite entertaining. I texted my buddy Rene a couple of games ago, saying that you can see why both of these teams are in the finals. As a Red Wings fan, there are some fun tie-ins to both of these finalists this year too. The Colorado Avalanche are a longtime Wings rival, with both teams being involved in one of the craziest on-ice brawls I ever saw in my life. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Lightning had Steve Yzerman, one of the greatest players in Red Wings history, as their general manager for a number of years, building the foundation for the multiple Cup-winning team they have become. With Stevie Y now at the helm for the Red Wings, I can only hope that we’ll see similar success soon.
