The guy that introduced me to Lee Hazlewood is the same guy that introduced me to Steven Wilson. I believe the first record he gave me was one called Insurgents. Once I was done with that, he gave an album called Welcome To My DNA by a band Steven Wilson was in called Blackfield. Blackfield actually came to Los Angeles and played the El Rey Theatre with Jordan Rudess as an opening act. The entire show was fantastic. Hell, Jordan Rudess’ performance alone was worth the $25 ticket. After seeing that show, I was talking with a lady at work and mentioned that I’d gone to see Blackfield, to which she replied that she had gone to see Blackfield. We chatted a bit more and that’s when I found out about Steven Wilson’s band Porcupine Tree. I dug into that band and found one of my favorite Steven Wilson compositions, “The Sound Of Muzak.”
