Double A-side Single #110

Quite a while back, my buddy Carlos and I were discussing music and what we each enjoyed about songs we hold dear. One of the things that was brought up was the fact that songs we loved were almost instantly recognizable when played, probably within a few seconds or less. I made the point that, most of the time, the vocals haven’t even come in yet either; it’s really just from the music itself that you recognize the tune. When I said that, we both started to think about how rare it is that songs we liked started with vocals instead of music. It was a rather short list, but this Bill Withers classic is the first song I thought of with a vocal-only intro.
