Some of the first multi-track tapes I ever worked on at my night job were for a band named The Beau Brummels. I only knew one Beau Brummels’ tune at the time, their biggest hit “Laugh, Laugh,” which I had heard many times as a kid. The albums I worked on, Bradley’s Barn and Triangle, were later in their discography, however, and I was not familiar with any of the songs on them. As I completed the work on each of these records, I really started to get into both of them. I thought Triangle in particular was a really strong effort, and it almost seemed to foreshadow the coming of another band, The Velvet Underground.
