The longest job I had while I was in college was at a place called Meijer, a grocery and general merchandise store in the vein of Walmart. It was there that I met my buddy Glen. Glen was an amazing origamist, a hell of a dart player, and a huge fan of The Band. Him and his wife actually moved out to California shortly after I did, and they were kind enough to let me crash on their floor while I was still trying to get established in L.A. Sadly, Glen passed away about seven or eight years after they moved out here, but I always think of him anytime I hear The Band’s music.
