Double A-side Single #240

It’s interesting to me how you can sometimes listen to a singer and hear a lyric completely differently than what it actually is. The first song I always think of in this vein is “Bad Moon Rising” by Creedence Clearwater Revival. When they sing “there’s a bad moon on the rise,” early on my friends and I interpreted this as “there’s a bathroom on the right.” Another one is the song “Purple Haze.” Instead of “excuse me while I kiss the sky,” we would sometimes hear, “excuse me while I kiss this guy.” When I originally heard this song by Mel And Tim as a little kid, I thought they were always saying “backfield emotion” until I finally saw the song’s title.
