Clutch Cargo’s was an old Gothic church in Pontiac, MI that had been converted into a music venue, and the first time I went there was in 1999 to see Tricky. A buddy of mine at the time was into him and had given me some stuff to listen to, which I dug, so we made the trek together. Admittedly, I had some reservations about how good of a show it would be, fueled mostly by the fact that the music was electronically based. Much to my delight and surprise, however, Tricky was accompanied by a full live band, and everyone absolutely killed it. That show also still holds the record for the most weed I’ve ever seen somebody smoke while performing.
