Whenever my friends and I would hear a new song on the radio back in the day, there was always anticipation and curiosity around what the accompanying music video would be like. Some could be very straightforward, perhaps the band simply playing the song live or a visual representation of the song’s lyrical story, while others might be something completely unto themselves. One video I always appreciated was for the Blind Melon song “No Rain.” Not only was it a heartwarming visual story, it also seemed to perfectly capture the overall feeling of the song itself, almost as if the song and video were conceived as one piece split between two mediums.
